Kelly and Eric-- Brewing up some love (I had to) 4.28.2018 by Colleen Schmidt

I had the honor of documenting the wedding day of this insanely fun couple a couple weeks ago! Kelly and Eric had an amazing day full of so much love, great beer, trips down memory lane and SO much dancing. Their day started at Blessed Sacrament church and ended at one of my FAVORITE venues to shoot: The Oliver House. The space is next to Maumee Bay Brewery and it's such a cool and unique space! We made stops around uptown: Middlegrounds metropark by the river (which I will never get bored of photographing), Handmade Toledo, the Attic-- it's the bar that they met at! Thank you two so much for letting me photograph your day and not laughing (too hard) at me while I totally geeked out! It was truly a magical day. The love you two have for each other radiates.

Enjoy a little peek into their day as well as some advice they have for other brides and grooms. CHEERS YOU TWO LOVEBIRDS!

KELLY: My favorite part of the day was when I turned the corner to start walking down the aisle. It was just this amazing moment full of all kinds of emotions! At first I looked around a little and was so happy to see the church full of family and friends and everyone smiling so big but then I locked in on Eric at the alter and everything else disappeared. Like I really don't even remember seeing anyone else except the people in the last few rows. I was just totally focused in on him. I feel like my face probably looked funny because I was already trying to hold back from crying at that time haha. And I do also remember Chris, my brother, telling me to slow down haha! I had this same feeling during our cake cutting and during our first dance. Like I was just totally unaware of anyone else in the room and was just in this happy little bubble with Eric.

ERIC: The photo shoot because I was able to slow down and really enjoy the day. Plus I was able to hang out with my sexy new wife 😋

KELLY: Our first dance song was Never Fade by Jack Johnson. It's a good one, definitely take a listen if you're not familiar with it. I just love Jack Johnson in general. I feel like all of his songs are just simple and relateable and genuine. Especially his love songs. I really love too that all of his love songs are written by him and written about his wife who he has been with for 20+ years. It may seem silly but I definitely took into consideration the artist of the song and their relationship status when picking this out and these are two people who definitely seem to have a pure, true love and who are dedicated to one another. I really wanted to have that as a good omen to start us off with :) This song in particular I think really fit well for Eric and I because of the lyrics. For example, here is the first verse:

"When I first saw you come across the room

And then you saw me, then I knew what to do

I tried to play it cool and attached no strings

But by the end of the day, I needed the whole thing"

This is totally us. We met completely by chance but immediately had this connection and never looked back :)

KELLY: One thing that we did that I think was really beneficial is we made a point of getting everything ready the weekend before the wedding. We had everything in boxes and labeled and all in one room of the house. We had it clearly separated what needed to go to the church and what needed to go to the reception. And we had a whole list with pictures put together for our day-of-coordinators that explained how we envisioned things being set up. I think that by basically being ready a week in advance really helped us to be a little less stressed for those days leading up to the big day. I've heard horror stories of brides being up until like 2 am the night before trying to finish things and I refused to let that happen to me.

ERIC: Hire a day of coordinator, you don't need to be worrying about everything on your wedding day

To 2017, and beyond! by Colleen Schmidt

Well, hello! It's been awhile, eh? :) As I started running full speed ahead into the first work week of 2017 I couldn't help but look back, just one more time. I was thinking back on all the amazing couples that let me into their lives and document their "BEST DAY EVER" or families that let me capture sweet moments in 2016. I was blown away by everything 2016 brought me!! So I decided to dust off the ol' blog and share some of my favorites of 2016. :) Now--I have full intentions to blog these amazing weddings (there is way too much to just share a few from each)!

BUT! in the meantime, take a little peak at what 2016 looked like over here at Colleen Schmidt Photography:

Holy moly, 2016. Hooooly moly. I am looking to 2017 to grow this little business even more!! I can't wait to document the "BEST DAY EVER!" for many new couples (and hopefully be better about blogging them all along the way. HA!)

To all my 2016 clients: Thank you. THANK YOU. THANK YOUUUU!! This has been an absolutely amazing year. I am so thankful all of you let me document such special moments in your lives. I truly can't thank you all enough for the kind words you gave and trust you had in little ole' me. YOU ARE ALL THE BEST!

To 2017, and beyond!

Eryanne and Keegan-- Love at first sight by Colleen Schmidt

Eryanne and Keegan are the type of couple that just instantly make you feel comfortable around them. We started the shoot at the Oliver House downtown (one of my favorite places to shoot) and instantly Eryanne was giggling and we were all laughing in no time! I felt like I've known them for a long time and capturing their love was so easy! Keegan looks at Eryanne with such respect and love that it gives me goosebumps. Most of my favorite photos from this shoot are the shots of him just looking over at Eryanne with so much love while she gets a case of the giggles (seriously, adorable).

They also have the CUTEST story. Eryanne says she instantly knew. I'll let her tell you what happened next because it is seriously so romantic and spontaneous. These two are seriously two peas in a pod. They compliment one another so well. Watching them communicate with their secret looks exchanged, giggles and smiles of admiration was truly inspiring.

Eryanne and Keegan, I can not WAIT to document your day in the fall. It's going to be the best day full of love! :)

I asked them to answer a few questions so check those out below and then press play on "their song" while you view the photos. They are just the cutest!

How did you two meet?

My (Eryanne) sophomore year of college, I spent the spring semester abroad in Italy. However, the weekend before I left I came up to BG to see my friends one last time. I went to a party that Friday and as soon as I walked into my friend's house, I saw Keegan sitting on a couch and knew I needed to know him. As Keegan would tell it, I stalked him all night and forced my affection on him, but he was into it! We clicked immediately. We spent the rest of that weekend together, and I cried on Sunday when I headed back to Youngstown, knowing it would be months before we saw each other again. We texted 24/7 until I got on my plane to leave the following Wednesday. Keegan actually convinced his parents to let him upgrade to an iPhone so that we could talk through iMessage while I was away. Although we intended to just reconnect when I returned in May, we made it 'official' two weeks into my time abroad. Then, despite his protests and warnings from friends that I was out of my mind, I bought him a plane ticket and flew him to Italy for a week. It was the best week of my life, and confirmed what I already knew - that I was going to spend my life with this man.

What's your favorite date night spot?

That's easy - Reverend's in Bowling Green. Nothing beats a good burger and a craft beer!

What's a song that reminds you of eachother?

As cheesy as it is, our song is 'My Best Friend' by Tim McGraw. Hits ya right in the feels :)
